Children’s Playgrounds Safety – Seven Fire Prevention Essentials

Children’s playgrounds must have comprehensive fire prevention measures to ensure peace of mind for operators and for parents and children to enjoy their playgrounds. The following seven essential fire prevention measures are outlined.

1. Regarding the design of children’s playgrounds, according to fire safety regulations, high-rise archways are generally not permitted as play areas. These areas should be located on the first three floors of a shopping mall and are strictly prohibited in underground malls or on floors four and above.

2. There should be at least two emergency exits from children’s play facilities, preferably with a separate entrance and exit. For high-rise shopping malls, separate entrances and exits and dedicated fire escape routes are essential.

3. In the event of a fire, the large amounts of toxic fumes produced by combustible materials are a major cause of death by asphyxiation. Therefore, all materials used in amusement facilities must be non-combustible, flame-retardant, or combustible materials that have undergone flame-retardant treatment.

4. Firefighting equipment must be fully equipped, including fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and evacuation signs.

5. Electrical wiring must comply with regulatory requirements and be properly routed. When using high-power electrical appliances, maintain a sufficient distance from flammable materials.

6. Develop a practical emergency evacuation plan and conduct regular drills to ensure clear evacuation routes.

7. Sales personnel must possess “three understandings and three skills”: understanding the fire hazards of their position, fire prevention measures, and fire extinguishing methods; and being able to call the police, use firefighting equipment, and organize evacuations.
